How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction is the most common ocular abnormality in children younger than 1 year. The disease occurs because of the dysgenesis of nasolacrimal pathways or their blockage, which leads to the violation of the tears outflow and its` stagnation in lacrimal sac. Most cases resolve on their own and do not require any treatment. However, in some cases, the disease can cause serious complications, such as development of purulent dacryocystitis, recurrent purulent eye infections and inflammation of the accessory structures of the eye. Treatment of congenital obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct in children should be personal, determinedin accordance with the severity of the disease, and carried out under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. The review highlights the main aspects related to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct in children.
