How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This overview article presents the history of the emergence and spread of the bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). Databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and eLIBRARY were used to search for scientific articles. The article details the stages of virus discovery, its evolution, and geographical distribution. Special attention is paid to the genetic diversity of BVDV. The main subgenotypes of the virus, their spread, and characteristics on different continents are analyzed. To date, at least twenty-one subgenotypes of BVDV-1 (BVDV-1a-1u) and six subgenotypes of BVDV-2 (BVDV-2a-2f) have been described and 4 genotypes of BVDV-3 (BVDV-3a-d) have also been identified. BVDV-1b is the predominant subgenotype worldwide, more often registered in European countries, followed by BVDV-1a and BVDV-1c. Subgenotypes 1m, 1n, 1o, 1p, and 1q have only been discovered in Asia. Similarly, BVDV-1f, 1g, 1h, 1k, 1r, 1s, and 1t are found only in European countries. Subgenotypes BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 have also been identified in Kazakhstan. The conclusions of the article emphasize the importance of molecular-genetic research for effective disease control and prevention.
