How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

In this chapter, we will provide a first overview of the role of nutrition on our health and risk for disease. During the past 50 years a significant lifestyle change has happened to nearly all humans worldwide. This is characterized by the use of energy-rich, highly processed food paired with reduced physical activity. Diet is one of the key environmental factors particularly involved in the pathogenesis and progression of many chronic non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, T2D and CVDs like hypertension, myocardial infarction and stroke as well as cancer. We will describe the evidence of dietary factors for these diseases and the impact of physical activity on their prevention.
