Abstract
Assessment of the quality of medical services provided is an integral part of the development of medical organizations. The quality of services provided by medical organizations is a multidimensional indicator that includes various factors. One of these factors is patient satisfaction. According to the current guidelines “Conducting sociological studies to assess the satisfaction of the population with the quality of medical services”, patient satisfaction is one of the important components of the quality of medical care, reflecting the compliance of patients’ expectations with reality. Satisfaction assessment methods should be standardized and objective in order to obtain accurate data and to establish honest ratings. The main problem of the current questionnaire and methods for assessing patient satisfaction is a weak methodology for their development. The problem is probably due to the lack of employees who have experience in developing the questionnaire using scientifically based methods and foreign experience. To solve this problem, it is necessary to hire for qualified employees or use the experience of foreign/local professors who are located in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The presence of work experience is extremely important, since the development of the questionnaire and evaluation can cause difficulties, which in turn can affect the accuracy and reliability. A poorly developed method of collecting data (questionnaires) and their subsequent analysis tend to affect the final results, in this case the quality of medical care, as well as the rating of medical organizations. The purpose of this Policy Brief is to uncover the causes of the problems of the current questionnaire of satisfaction of patients with medical care and suggest options for their elimination. Also, analyze the methodology of foreign countries in developing a tool for collecting data and methods for assessing the level of patient satisfaction and formulate recommendations for improving the methods used in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
