How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are one of the major causes of death worldwide including Kazakhstan. Although hypertension (HT) is a well-known risk factor for CVD, few studies have been conducted concerning its prevalence and control in Kazakhstan. Therefore, the more comprehensive approach is needed in understanding the CVD prevalence and its management. Purpose: To evaluate the prevalence and control of hypertension in three major regions in Kazakhstan. Methods: We used a cross-sectional study design to assess the prevalence and control of HT in both sex populations aged 18 years and older in urban and rural areas of Kazakhstan. There were 1500 randomly selected participants from three major regions such as Almaty, Aktobe and Shymkent. For study purpose, a STEPS-like questionnaire was administered along with anthropometric and blood pressure measurements. Hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) >140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) >90 mmHg; whereas, HT under control was defined as SBP less than 140 mmHg and DBP less than 90 mmHg among participants previously diagnosed with HT.
