Abstract
The article analyzes the system of indicators measuring income inequality. To assess the level of income inequality, the dynamics of median and average wages were analyzed, showing a gap that indicates a structural asymmetry in the distribution of wages in the country. The indicators of inequality in income distribution by quintile income groups of the population over a thirteen-year period were examined. The dynamics of the Gini coefficient and the fund coefficient are analyzed, which also indicate the presence of a process of income concentration among the wealthier population. Indicators such as the self-employed and their share in the economy were examined, as a result of which it was revealed that the majority of the self-employed are involved in low-productivity industries. An analysis of all those employed in the economy shows that a significant part of them are also engaged in low-productivity work and have low incomes, which means that jobs are created in the economy that do not require high-level skills that adversely affect productivity and wages. As a result, the authors of the article conclude that to change the situation, it is necessary to increase the skills of the workforce to ensure employment, including through the creation of high-performance jobs, which implies strengthening business activity of the population through support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The analytical approach used in the article allows us to trace the dynamics of trends and identify their interrelation and interdependence. Based on the applied approaches, the content of theoretical and methodological studies conducted by scientists to identify key trends and identify existing problems in the issue under study is studied, their own analytical reflections are presented and appropriate conclusions are drawn.
