Abstract
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are a new innovative technology that will revolutionize beyond 5G wireless networks. This paper investigates the performance of cascaded RIS-aided wireless networks in terms of the outage probability (OP) over Nakagami-$m$fading channels. An efficient approximation method is provided to find the probability distribution function (PDF) and OP for the effective end-to-end communication. Obtained PDF and OP expressions are valid for any number of cascaded RISs and reflecting elements per individual RIS,$N$. Analytical results are corroborated with Monte Carlo simulations under different system parameters. Results reveal that the increase in the fading parameter$m$and number$N$per RIS improves the outage performance of the system.
