How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This study assessed bacterial communities in farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and sturgeon (Acipenser ruthenus) from aquaculture farms in Aktobe, Karaganda, and Almaty regions of Kazakhstan using bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Samples of affected fish’s internal organs and ulcerative skin lesions were pooled into four groups. Microbial composition varied markedly by sample type. Healthy rainbow trout organs were dominated by Proteobacteria and Firmicutes, while ulcerated tissues contained nearly 99% Proteobacteria, indicating potential dysbiosis. Fusobacteriota dominated in sturgeon samples, whereas trout ulcers from the Almaty region consisted entirely of Bacteroidota. At the genus level, Aeromonas, Carnobacterium, and Lactococcus were abundant in healthy Rainbow Trout, while Psychrobacter and Pseudomonasprevailed in ulcerated tissues. Flavobacterium was found exclusively in ulcer samples from Almaty regions, and Cetobacterium predominated in sturgeon. These findings reveal distinct region- and species-specific microbial profiles, offering valuable insight into pathogen dynamics in Kazakhstan’s aquaculture systems and underscoring the importance of continued microbial monitoring for sustainable fish health management.
