How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into language education has significantly reshaped the development of students’ speaking skills, creating new pathways for interaction, engagement, and personalized learning. Among contemporary digital tools, Flipgrid has emerged as a dynamic, learner-centered platform that facilitates spoken language practice through asynchronous video responses. This study investigates the effectiveness of Flipgrid in enhancing students’ speaking proficiency within a technology-supported instructional framework. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the study involved 120 undergraduate students enrolled in Academic English courses, divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group employed Flipgrid for weekly speaking tasks, while the control group engaged in conventional, instructor-led speaking activities. Pre- and post-intervention assessments focused on fluency, grammatical accuracy, and speaking confidence. The findings reveal a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s speaking performance compared to the control group, with notable gains in fluency and accuracy, as well as increased learner engagement. These results underscore Flipgrid’s potential as a pedagogically and technologically effective tool for promoting oral language development. The study contributes to the growing body of research on digital platforms in language education and highlights the need for continued investigation into their long-term efficacy and adaptability across varied instructional contexts.
