Abstract
Radical copolymerization of N , N -dimethyl- N , N -diallylammonium chloride with N , N -dimethylacrylamide has been investigated by FTIR, 1 H NMR spectroscopies, and conductometric titration method. Monomer reactivity ratios were determined by the application of Finemann-Ross, Kelen-Tudos and inverted Finemann-Ross methods. It was found that N , N -dimethyl- N , N -diallylammonium chloride is less reactive than N , N -dimethylacrylamide. It was shown that the monomers are distributed randomly in the polymer chain, and the copolymers formed exhibit good flocculation activity.
