How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This study explores how young people today experience and engage with religion. It uses a network perspective to show how social, cultural, and digital environments are connected and influence one another. The findings suggest that religious involvement for many adolescents is no longer centered only on formal institutions. Instead, it develops through everyday experiences. These include conversations at home, friendship, time spent online, and exposure to digital media. Together, these factors shape how young people understand religion. They also influence the formation of moral and spiritual views. The results show that this network-based engagement has both positive and negative effects. On the one hand, diverse connections expose young people to different belief systems. This can support reflection and the development of coherent value orientations. On the other hand, frequent contact with conflicting opinions and unreliable information can challenge existing beliefs. This often leads to uncertainty. It can also make it harder to from a stable moral position. The study is distinctive because it applies a network-based perspective to youth religiosity. This approach helps explain how family life, peer relationship, everyday social settings, and digital spaces intersect. Together, they shape spiritual development of adolescents. They also point to the need for supportive spaces, both online and offline. Such spaces can help young people reflect, ask questions, and explore religious and spiritual issues in rapidly changing social world.
