How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The introduction of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 standards in 2024 has significantly transformed the scope and nature of professional accounting practice, shifting the focus from traditional recording functions to a strategic role in supporting organizational sustainable development. This study examines the impact of these standards on accountants’ activities using three leading Kazakhstani companies – Kazatomprom, Samruk-Energy, and QazaqGaz – as case examples, with particular attention to the integration of ESG indicators into corporate reporting. A comparative analysis was conducted to assess accountants’ readiness to implement sustainability reporting and the extent to which ESG data informs managerial decision-making. The findings indicate that the adoption of IFRS S1 and S2 expands accountants’ professional responsibilities, enhances corporate reporting transparency, and contributes to the long-term sustainability of organizations. Based on these results, practical recommendations are proposed to strengthen accountants’ professional competencies and optimize the use of ESG reporting in corporate practice.
