How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Official statistics from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan formed the basis of this study. The research focuses on food price affordability in Kazakhstan during periods of external economic shocks. Price indices for the 2015 and 2020 crises and average prices for 19 socially important food products from 2022 to 2026 were examined. Food price dynamics were examined by comparing the effects of the national currency devaluation, the COVID-19 pandemic, and geopolitical instability. Changes in the prices of individual food products were analyzed, and price growth rates were calculated for the main commodity groups. The study identified the product categories most sensitive to external factors and revealed differences in price dynamics depending on the nature of the crisis. The findings indicate that currency, logistical, and geopolitical shocks accelerate food inflation and affect different groups of socially important food products unevenly. The highest price increases were observed for vegetables, dairy products, and meat products, while several non-perishable commodities demonstrated price stabilization following a period of sharp growth. The results may contribute to the evaluation of the domestic food market and support decision-making on food security in Kazakhstan.
