How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The article considers a method for assessing the remaining strength and remaining life of oil pipelines with corrosion defects. The aim of the work is to propose a reproducible approach to calculating the safe service life of a pipeline under internal corrosion. The method combines the de Waard–Milliams model for predicting the CO₂ corrosion rate and the modified ASME B31G (0.85dL) criterion for determining the burst pressure of a defective pipe. The calculation was carried out for conditional parameters of an API 5L X52 pipe with an outer diameter of 720 mm and a wall thickness of 10 mm. It is shown that as the defect length increases from 100 to 600 mm, the allowable defect depth decreases from 7.94 to 4.84 mm, and the remaining life shortens from 12.4 to 4.6 years. Monitoring inhibitor efficiency and repairing long defects first are recommended. The results can be used when planning pipeline inspection and repair.
