How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of localized porosity in an osteosynthesis plate and age-dependent bone tissue properties on the biomechanics of the bone–implant system. Finite element analysis was performed for young and elderly bone using both solid and locally porous plates. Bone tissue stresses, interfragmentary strain (IFS), strain energy density (SED), and mechanical stimulus were evaluated. The use of a porous insert reduced IFS from 11.25–12.25% to 2.78–2.85% and SED from 0.114–0.115 to 0.003–0.004 mJ/mm³, substantially altering the local mechanical environment in the fracture region. Specimen fabrication and SEM analysis confirmed the manufacturability of the developed porous structure. The obtained results demonstrate the potential of localized porosity for controlling the mechanical characteristics of the fixation system while accounting for age-dependent properties of bone tissue.
