How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

African swine fever (ASF) is a transboundary viral disease affecting domestic pigs and wild boar. Although ASF vaccines have been approved in a limited number of countries, their broader use remains restricted; therefore, validated real-time PCR (qPCR) remains a principal method for African swine fever virus (ASFV) detection. Genetic variation in ASFV, including single-nucleotide polymorphisms, insertions/deletions, and tandem repeats, may affect primer- and probe-binding sites and compromise assay performance. This review evaluates sequence variability in key diagnostic and typing loci, including B646L (p72), E183L (p54), EP402R (CD2v), and the Central Variable Region of B602L, focusing on its implications for molecular detection and false-negative results. The review emphasizes continued genomic surveillance and periodic in silico assessment of diagnostic oligonucleotides, particularly in regions such as Kazakhstan, where genomic data remain limited. Multiplex approaches combining conserved targets with appropriate internal controls may improve diagnostic robustness when adequately validated.
