How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Spinal cord injuries are one of the most significant health problems, leading to a significant increase in morbidity, disability and premature mortality. Current research confirms the need to improve the health care system, given the projected further increase in the number of cases and the global burden of the disease. The aim of the study was to assess the burden of spinal cord injuries in Kazakhstan. Methods. The burden of spinal cord injury was estimated by calculating DALYs based on two key indicators - YLL and YLD. Analyzed period: 2018-2022. Results. Analysis of YLL, YLD, and DALY scores over a five-year period demonstrated a significant burden of spinal cord injury on the health care system and society at large. Cumulative life years lost due to YLL was 5,936.5 years and YLD was 16,402.0 years. The integral DALY indicator reached 22,388.5 years, which indicates the high relevance of the problem and the need to take systemic measures to reduce it. Conclusions. The dynamics of the integral DALY indicator indicates an increasing burden of the disease and the need to improve the system of medical care and rehabilitation.
