How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This qualitative study was conducted among teachers specializing in information technology from various higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan. The study aims to investigate the frequency of application of certain practice-oriented teaching methods in IT education, how often they are mentioned in syllabuses, and how much they coincide with real-world applications. The study also sheds light on how higher education institutions support teachers in applying practice-oriented methods and what obstacles teachers experience in applying these teaching methods. As part of the study, a survey was conducted among 102 participants representing various higher education institutions in 11 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan to obtain the most extensive and diverse sample. During the survey, Likert scales were used, which allowed us to get more detailed and nuanced answers from the respondents. In addition, multiple-choice questions were included, further expanding the opportunities for participants to express their opinions. The SPSS-29 software toolkit was selected and successfully applied during the data analysis. The important results found in this study make a scientific contribution by expanding our knowledge about the most frequently used methods of practice-oriented learning, the barriers to the use of these methods, and the frequency with which these methods are mentioned in the syllabus. This study also provides valuable information for IT education researchers who aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of training of IT specialists in higher education.
