How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

In the modern world, one of the key instruments for the development of a country’s economy is ensuring the effective and high-quality protection of intellectual property rights. This applies in particular to product identification tools indicating its geographical origin. The article examines the fundamental provisions governing the legal regulation of geographical indications, as well as the process of identifying legal issues arising in the sphere of the protection of geographical indications. In particular, an analysis of legislative aspects is carried out, protection mechanisms are defined, and a comparative legal study has been conducted. The authors have analyzed both international and national experience in the legal regulation of the use of geographical indications and names of places of origin. Specifically, they reviewed provisions from European Union legislation and the laws of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union have been considered. Furthermore, international agreements relating to the legal regulation of geographical indications and appellations of origin have been analyzed. Since the protection of geographical indications in the Republic of Kazakhstan is a new and developing field, certain issues are observed in the national legal system. In this regard, it is justified to further improve and develop the Kazakh legislation for the protection of personal identification devices containing information on the geographical origin of goods. Despite the identification of certain gaps in the legal regulation and protection of geographical indications, the analysis of national legislation shows a positive trend in the development of the regulatory framework.
