How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Mycetoma is a chronic, progressive infectious disease caused by fungi (eumycetoma) or bacteria (actinomycetoma), characterized by involvement of the skin and subcutaneous tissue and the formation of multiple sinus tracts. The disease is distinguished by a prolonged course and significant challenges in early diagnosis due to its clinical resemblance to neoplastic, inflammatory, and systemic conditions. This study presents a clinical case of a 62-year-old patient who presented with complaints of elevated lesions in the right gluteal region and a long history of the disease. The patient had been repeatedly examined with suspected diagnoses of malignancy, tuberculosis, and chronic dermatoses. The final diagnosis was challenging due to the nonspecific nature of clinical and morphological findings. The aim of this study is to analyze a clinical case of mycetoma with prolonged diagnostic delay and to identify key aspects of diagnosis and differential diagnosis. The necessity of a comprehensive diagnostic approach, including microbiological, histological, and instrumental methods, is emphasized.
