How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

In the premises of KazShipping LLP (warehouses, administrative buildings, repair shops, and port terminals), lighting systems account for up to 35–40% of total electricity consumption. Most facilities still use outdated luminaires with incandescent and mercury lamps, leading to excessive energy costs (over 120 million tenge annually), high maintenance expenses, and poor lighting quality that affects staff performance and safety. This article proposes a comprehensive approach to improving the energy efficiency of indoor lighting systems based on an audit of existing equipment, assessment of energy-saving potential, and implementation of modern LED technology combined with intelligent lighting control systems (presence sensors, daylight harvesting, and centralized dimming). The study analyzed electricity consumption data for 2023–2025, lighting layouts, and operating schedules of different premises. Using a multi-criteria decision-making method (AHP-TOPSIS), the most cost-effective modernization scenarios were identified. The results show that replacing all luminaires with LED equivalents and installing motion sensors reduces lighting energy consumption by 62–74%, decreases maintenance costs by 85% (due to longer LED lifetime), and improves illuminance uniformity by 40%. The simple payback period ranges from 1.8 to 3.2 years depending on the facility type. The total annual economic effect for KazShipping LLP is estimated at 68–75 million tenge. The proposed solution requires moderate capital investment (≈140 million tenge) and can be scaled to other transport and logistics enterprises in Kazakhstan.
