How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

ntibiotic resistance in poultry farming poses a significant threat to veterinary and food safety, especially in regions with high poultry density and widespread use of antimicrobial drugs. In this study, we performed a metagenomic analysis of the resistome of the microbiota of farmed chickens collected from seven regions of Kazakhstan. Sequencing data in FASTQ format were analyzed using the Resistance Gene Identifier (RGI, bwt mode) tool, which allowed us to identify the spectrum of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and their prevalence across regions. The descriptive analysis revealed pronounced interregional variation in resistome structure. Samples from Petropavl, Kostanay, and Ust-Kamenogorsk were found to be the most enriched in ARGs, Saryagash was characterized by relatively low ARG abundance in the heat map, but high Shannon and Simpson diversity values, suggesting a low-burden yet evenly distributed resistome structure. Alpha diversity (Shannon and Simpson indices) confirmed differences in the internal composition of the resistome, and beta diversity analysis (Bray-Curtis, principal coordinate analysis) showed clustering of regions according to their ARG profiles. Functional classification of ARGs revealed the predominance of genes associated with resistance to aminoglycosides, tetracyclines, and macrolides. Additionally, co-occurrence patterns between region-specific ARGs and bacterial taxa were analyzed to identify the genera most strongly associated with the formation of local resistance profiles. The results demonstrate a pronounced geographical structure of the poultry resistome in Kazakhstan and can serve as a basis for developing regionally adapted strategies for controlling antibiotic resistance in poultry farming.
