Abstract
The late stage of oil field development is characterized by a significant increase in produced water cut, higher concentrations of mechanical impurities, intensive formation of organic and inorganic deposits in the wellbore, and accelerated corrosion of field equipment. Under these conditions, the operation of high-capacity electric submersible pumps becomes more difficult, resulting in frequent failures and reduced reliability. For this reason, the analysis of electric submersible pump performance in complicated operating environments and the development of practical measures to improve their efficiency and reliability are highly relevant. This paper examines the operation of pumps in wells producing highly watered fluids, identifies the main complicating factors, and evaluates their influence on oil well performance indicators. An analysis of wells equipped with electric submersible pumps was carried out to assess the advantages and justify the applicability of this production method under the conditions of oil fields in the Mangystau region. The operational features of pump systems are considered with regard to geological, technical, and technological factors typical of the late stage of field development. The results of the study made it possible to determine the main causes of premature failures of downhole pumping equipment and to develop a set of organizational and technical measures aimed at increasing the inter-repair period and extending the failure-free operating time. The implementation of these measures improves well operation reliability and supports current scientific and technological priorities related to the rational and efficient operation of oil wells.
