How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Discussions about artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative models like ChatGPT, have become more common on social media these days, reflecting a wide range of public opinions and worries. From 2022 to 2025, this study examines public opinion and thematic discussion on Reddit related to artificial intelligence (AI). Using more than 35 carefully chosen keywords, we gathered more than 2900 posts and 636000 comments from 10 subreddits pertaining to artificial intelligence. Logistic Regression, SVM, and Naive Bayes were used to perform a supervised sentiment classification using a labeled Reddit dataset. Applying the best-performing model to our entiredataset showed that 20% of comments were negative, 35% were neutral, and 45% of comments were positive. BERTopic topic modeling revealed dominant themes like creative tools, automation anxiety, and AI ethics. Our study provides insight into how online communities perceive and respond emotionally to the rise of generative AI.
