How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The given paper discusses the conceptual framework of the chemical text. The framework of the chemical texts is considered from the viewpoint of lexical composition. There are shown the transition of real-life objects into the terminological units. This process implies that some concepts which have a certain role in real life can acquire an absolutely different meaning in chemical context and turn into a substance or equipment. This change of the meaning is caused by the fact that when chemists carry out their experiments, they always discover something new in their research. For example, they can find the new properties of a substance under investigation which can be similar to the features of some real-life objects. Besides, there can be situations when their newly-discovered substance has the same shape as a thing or an object which we use in our life every day. This tendency of giving a name to a new substance based on visual associations can be often observed in chemical scientific articles. However, the authors of scientific articles on chemistry can rely not only visual associations but also on the functional aspect or the way how this object works. The functional aspect as it was mentioned before can be referred to substances too. This tendency is regularly observed when a research paper discusses a chemical process or a chemical reaction. The paper also discusses some interesting lexical peculiarities of word-usage in chemical texts and the diversity of terminological layer. The classification of chemical terms was given according to which the following categories were distinguished: polysemantic terms, monosemantic terms, Latin-based terms and international words. The specific character of the chemical text vocabulary was revealed.
