How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The soils of rice fields in the Balkhash district are characterized by hydromorphic conditions, secondary salinization, and intensive anthropogenic impact, creating specific ecological niches for phototrophic microorganisms. The present study aimed to assess the biodiversity of cyanobacteria in rice agroecosystems of the Balkhash region and to isolate productive strains with potential for use as organic biofertilizers. A total of 19 cyanobacterial species were identified in soil samples, with dominance of heterocystous filamentous forms belonging mainly to the family Nostocaceae. Morphological analysis revealed that heterocystous cyanobacteria accounted for 75% of the total community, indicating the key role of nitrogen fixation in flooded rice soils. Four axenic cyanobacterial cultures were isolated, among which Nostoc sp. BB6 and Oscillatoria tenuis BB-5 demonstrated the highest growth rates and biomass yields (1.36 and 1.25 g/L, respectively). Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of phenolic compounds, tannins, and alkaloids in both strains, while Nostoc sp. BB6 exhibited a broader spectrum of secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, saponins, and glycosides. The obtained results indicate that Nostoc sp. BB6 possesses a high biotechnological potential due to its productivity and rich phytochemical profile, making it a promising candidate for the development of cyanobacteria-based organic biofertilizers for sustainable rice cultivation.
