Abstract
One of the main issues in open-pit mining is ensuring safety during mining operations and achieving rational exploitation of the deposit. To ensure the safety of open-pit mining, continuous monitoring and forecasting of the stability of pit walls, benches, and dumps must be carried out, as well as the prevention of hazardous man-made incidents. The mining and geological conditions of the Dalnezapadny quarry site should be classified as unfavorable. The experience of stripping operations in water-saturated aeolian sands has shown that, although these sands do not generate significant water inflows, they are extremely unstable, prone to liquefaction, and create certain difficulties in overburden removal. Additionally, the clay rocks of the lithomarge zone of the weathering crust lose cohesion upon soaking and turn into a loose mass with a complete loss of strength, further complicating mining operations in the quarry. In the future, the extraction of reserves from the Dalnezapadny quarry is planned, which highlights the need for revising the project data. This research paper presents results that will serve as the basis for selecting optimal parameters for bench height and slope angles for different types of host rocks, considering the mining-geological, hydrogeological, and geomechanical characteristics of the deposit
