How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

The main way for preventing of infectious diseases is vaccination. To increase the efficacy of vaccine preparations, special additives - adjuvants are used in their composition. These components are allowed to enhance the activity of antigen-specific humoral, cellular and mucosal immune responses, expand the spectrum of post-vaccination immunity, and also reduce the dose of administered antigen. Both inorganic and organic compounds can be used as adjuvants. In recent years, due to advances in the development of nanotechnology, nanoparticles and nanomaterials are increasingly used to design the effective and safe adjuvants. Use of nanomaterials as adjuvants and incorporation of antigens into the structure of nanoparticles makes antigens more protected from biodegradation and allows for their better recognition by antigen-presenting cells. Significant advances in creation of new nanomaterials and their application in medicine and biotechnology, as well as development of new approaches based on nanotechnology principles, have made it possible to achieve significant breakthroughs in creation of new generation of vaccine preparations. This review describes the modern achievements of nanotechnology in the development of antigen delivery systems, as well as new possibilities for use of nanoparticles and nanomaterials as adjuvants to create more efficient vaccine preparations intended for both parenteral and mucosal vaccination.
