How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

This article focuses on the molecular genetic characterisation of influenza A (H5N1) viruses isolated from wild waterfowl that winter on the shores of the northern part of the Caspian Sea. The results of full-genome sequencing of the Kazakh A (H5N1) variants are presented, alongside an analysis of molecular markers related to mammalian adaptation. Phylogenetic studies indicate that the new viruses belong to clade 2.3.4.4b, which is characterised by high pathogenicity and the potential for interspecies transmission. The mutations found in several key genes (PB2, HA, NS, etc.) reflect the virus's potential for mammalian adaptation and could increase its zoonotic risk. Given their role in migratory routes and the possibility of spreading highly pathogenic A (H5N1) strains to new regions, the importance of continuous monitoring of wild waterfowl populations in the Northern Caspian area is emphasised.
