Abstract
The “Black Death” has left a significant mark in the history of mankind in culture, economics and the system of social relations. For a long time, a comprehensive study of the territory of the Great Russian Plain was practically not carried out or was limited exclusively to the territory of the Russian principalities. The territory of the Golden Horde, which is about 40%, was rarely included in such analyses, except for references to the famous plot with the bombing of the Genoese Kafa by the Tatars in 1346. Russian scientists have attempted to use data from paleogenetic research and critical analysis previously published in Persian, Arabic, Latin, Russian and Armenian languages to reconstruct the epidemic process that took place on the eve of and after the “Black Death” in the Great Russian Plain. The conducted research showed that the exacerbation of the epidemic situation in these territories occurred long before the start of the “Black Death”. Moreover, the inclusion of part of the territories of the Russian principalities into the Golden Horde played a major role in this process. Already at the entrance of the disaster itself, information was confirmed about the simultaneous circulation of various strains of plague bacteria, advancing simultaneously from several directions at once. Moreover, the territory of Persia played an important role in the epidemic situation. Climate change, if it played any significant role, was only one of the indirect factors that determined the level of immunity or the aggravation of the military-political situation.
