How this score is calculated

It is built from checkable properties of the record itself: whether the article has a DOI, how many independent sources confirmed its data, whether the required fields are filled in, and how recent the latest confirmation is. Disagreement between sources and a missing identifier lower it. A value of 80 or above means the record was published without further checking; 60 to 79 means it is published at reduced confidence, with a manual check advisable. A record verified by an editor by hand is never pushed below 90 by a recalculation. This scores our data about the article, not the article itself.

Abstract

Doctoral education is a rigorous and complex endeavor that demands more than subject-matter proficiency. It requires methodologically strict and ethically justified approaches to research works. Numerous PhD candidates commence their studies lacking a comprehensive vision, frequently resulting in fragmented efforts over a lengthy period of time. The current guide includes topic selection and hypothesis formation, succeeded by systematic bibliometric and altmetric assessments to ascertain the relevance, originality, and implications of doctoral works. It subsequently integrates national epidemiological data to envision local implications of the planned research project. The following steps highlight the significance of systematic and comprehensive overviews, survey-based data collecting, and case-based observations, progressively advancing to more complex approaches, including cohort, case-control, or interventional studies. The final year of doctoral studies requires skills for journal targeting, ethical publishing, and disseminating obtained scientific facts. Acquiring academic English, writing, ethics, and statistics skills throughout the doctoral studies is essential for all PhD candidates. Collectively, these components cultivate critical thinking. This guide provides a structured yet flexible roadmap designed to improve the quality, efficiency, and international significance of PhD studies and related works.
