Efficient and equitable recognition of qualifications is vital for ensuring access to cross-border educational and professional opportunities. This paper examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in qualification recognition through a comprehensive review of the literature and policy analysis, focusing on five key dimensions: equity, recognition workflows, learning outcomes, regulatory frameworks, and international academic mobility. While AI has the potential to streamline credential evaluation, improve process efficiency, and enhance fraud detection, it also presents significant ethical challenges. The paper critically assesses both the opportunities and risks of AI in this context, advocating for a balanced approach that combines AI-driven tools with necessary human oversight. It emphasizes the importance of upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and integrity to ensure that AI contributes positively to the recognition process. In doing so, the paper provides an in-depth analysis of AI's transformative impact on qualification recognition within higher education.
