The article reflects the main methods of studying and using in the construction materials industry a natural fossil related to siliceous rocks – flaskes. The nature of the origin of the flask, its deposits, and the analysis of reserves are highlighted. As a result of the study of the Shipovsky opoki deposit in the West Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, several dozen samples were taken at various depths and at various points along the perimeter of the deposit. Siliceous rock – flask was studied as an independent material for the production of lightweight bricks by high-temperature firing at 950oC in a laboratory furnace. Laboratory studies were conducted to determine the characteristics of the flask necessary for the production of bricks, aggregates and firing products. The selected samples were used to check the clogging of the flask and the grain composition, i.e. grain sizes and the presence of large inclusions. After conducting laboratory studies, industrial (i.e. technological) types and varieties of flask were tentatively planned. Next, the basic technological scheme of flask processing is determined with the selection of appropriate equipment used for the production of building materials with the determination of the main processing indicators. Laboratory samples were taken from each natural variety of flask, which is of important industrial importance.
