The purpose of the study is to analyze the development of the tourism industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to study global indicators of sustainable development of the industry, to identify problems and factors affecting the competitiveness of tourism. It is indicated that the Sustainable development of Goals are laid down by the UN in the "Agenda for the XXI century" are being successfully implemented in Kazakhstan. The methodological basis of the research was the methods of abstraction, scientific analysis, synthesis of the information received, system analysis, expert vision of the problem, as well as empirical methods: observation, comparison, identification of cause-and-effect dependencies. It is noted that the tourism industry in Kazakhstan has begun to recover after the pandemic. In the global ranking of tourism competitiveness, the position of the country is improving, Kazakhstan has received a high rating on such indicators as "price competitiveness", "seasonality of tourism", "natural resources", "number of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites". However, the industry needs significant investments, the growth of income rate of the industry lags behind the GDP of country, and the pace of investment in the tourism industry lags behind the pace of investment in the country's economy as a whole. Digitalization and marketing of the industry are being actively implemented to solve problems, online platforms are being created, resources of popular social networks and platforms of world-famous information portals are being used.
