The studies were carried out in the steppe zone of West Kazakhstan. The object of research was the planting of potatoes in an irrigated area. An analysis of climate change towards warming revealed an increase in heat supply during the warm period of the year. The sum of positive air temperatures above +10 °С of this period was 3251.1 °С, and the duration of the vegetative period was 172 days. Under the conditions of vegetative period increasing, experiments were made for the obtaining possibility of two crops of potatoes within one year in the same field. In early spring potatoes were planted with germinated and non-germinated tubers. After harvesting potatoes, in the same place, after a little soil preparation, potatoes were re-planted in the summer. The vegetation period of potatoes planted in early spring with germinated tubers was 78 days, not germinated – 94 days. The vegetation period of potatoes in the summer planting period after the first option was 67 days. Potatoes planted in the summer after the variant with non-germinated tubers interrupted their vegetation due to the first frosts. A comparative assessment of the interphase periods duration of potato development in the early spring and summer planting periods showed their decrease during the summer planting period due to a decrease in daylight hours. However, it did not affect its productivity value. The research results showed the possibility of obtaining two crops of potatoes in an irrigated area in the same field. The development of such a technology involves the use of varieties from early and mid-early ripeness groups. In this case, planting potatoes in early spring with germinated tubers can provide a yield of 42.1 t/ha. Potato plantings of the summer planting period in the same area provide a yield of 37.6 t/ha. Thus, 79.7 t / ha of potatoes can be obtained from one hectare per year. This achieves the rational use of climatic and land resources.
