A novel power divider architecture is proposed in this paper to provide inherent impedance transformation. The power divider provides inherent impedance transformation for either real or complex port impedances. The proposed architecture makes use of the stepped impedance transformers to support high impedance transformations. The presented technique is supported by a thorough design analysis and is augmented with a number of design cases to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented approach. A prototype possessing complex output ports terminations has been fabricated on Rogers 5880, and operates at 5.8 GHz, to evaluate the presented concept. A good agreement between the measurement and the EM simulation results supports the assertions of this paper.
