Virtual Reality (VR) technology offers promising opportunities to enhance language education by creating immersive learning environments that improve student outcomes. This study investigated the effectiveness of VR glasses in boosting motivation and engagement among General English pre-intermediate students at the International Information Technology University. Using a mixed-methods quasi-experimental design, 17 undergraduates participated with two language teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative analysis using SPSS version 25 summarized students’ perceptions of VR usability and effectiveness. Thematic qualitative analysis revealed key experiences, advantages, and challenges of VR in education. Findings showed VR significantly enhanced motivation and engagement, with generally positive student attitudes toward its use. However, physical discomfort and motion sickness were noted as challenges. This research underscores VR glasses’ potential as effective educational tools that enrich language learning and support educators in integrating VR technologies thoughtfully.
