In this article, the violin is considered as a means of embodying musical representations of the peoples of Eurasia, being an intermediary in ritual actions in the context of a constantly transforming socio-cultural status at different stages of the cultural and historical process. The diversity and difference of stringed instruments in the life of Slavic and Asian countries, their unique symbiosis with European instruments in the process of creating a violin, direct participation in religious, spiritual and secular cultural spaces, as well as demand at various sociostructural levels – all these are important aspects for determining the cultural significance of the violin as an instrument that unites many the peoples. The purpose of this study is to identify the place, meaning and functions of the violin, as well as stringed instruments in the life of the peoples of Eurasia in a general historical context and in traditional culture. The present topic of the article requires the use of a whole range of methodological approaches such as comparative historical, typological, ethnomusicological approaches. The scientific novelty of this article is that the culture of stringed instruments among various peoples was not considered in the context of an integral and multifaceted system united by common factors such as psychological, aesthetic, musical-artistic, spiritual, folklore, symbolic, ethnic, etc.
