The dependences of the physical and mechanical properties (hardness H, elastic modulus E, resistance H/E to elastic deformation, and resistance H3/E2 to plastic deformation) of the samples of matrices from hard alloy 94 wt % WC‒6 wt % Co with different contents (from 0 to 10 wt %) of chromium diboride in composite diamond-containing materials obtained by cold pressing with subsequent vacuum hot pressing, according to the results of nanoindentation. It is shown that the addition of CrB2 micropowder to the composition of the 94WC‒6Co composite makes it possible to obtain a more finely grained structure, the parameters of which can be purposefully controlled by changing its concentration. The composites containing CrB2 additive are characterized by a more uniform phase distribution, a higher mutual solubility of the components, and the absence of pores at the interfaces. It is found that the P–h loading curves for composites of the WC–Co–CrB2 system are able to preserve their integrity in comparison with WC–Co composites. It was found that the introduction of the additive CrB2 (in the range from 0 to 10 wt %) in the composition of the composite 94WC‒6Co causes decreases in hardness H from 34.2 to 28.4 GPa and in elastic modulus E from 800.4 to 510.2 GPa, but gives rise to more substantial increases in resistance H/E to elastic deformation from 0.043 to 0.056 and in resistance H3/E2 to plastic deformation from 0.062 to 0.088 MPa. The development of composite diamond-containing materials based on the matrix of hard alloy WC‒Co‒CrB2 with enhanced H/E and H3/E2 parameters is important for optimizing the design of drilling tools and increasing their reliability and wear resistance.
