The article focuses on the granite outcrop of Boritastagan, a rock art site and a place where traces of human presence from different periods have accumulated over time. Boritastagan is examined as a provocative landscape: an isolated and visually striking object whose physical properties created opportunities for image-making, ritual actions, folkloric explanations, tourist visits, and modern practices of marking presence. The study is based on fieldwork materials, archival descriptions, folkloric evidence, photogrammetric data, and digital image processing. During the survey, six locations with paintings made with mineral pigments were recorded. The use of DStretch made it possible to identify faintly visible figures, clarify the composition of individual panels, and establish for the first time the polychrome character of the Boritastagan paintings. The article shows that ancient images, folkloric narratives, ritual practices, modern visitor inscriptions, and digital documentation together form a single biography of Boritastagan as an attractive landscape object. It is concluded that the preservation of the site requires not only archaeological study, but also the creation of new, managed forms of its public interpretation. The author declares no conflict of interests.
