Under modern coal mining conditions, the use of high-performance mechanized mining complexes leads to increased methane emissions and the formation of «gas barriers», which limit both the safety and the rate of mining operations. In such conditions, effective management of the gas factor becomes one of the key requirements for ensuring stable and safe mine operation. The experience of the Karaganda Coal Basin shows that advance degasification of coal seams is an effective method for reducing gas-dynamic risks and stabilizing the gas regime during intensive mining. This approach helps reduce methane concentrations and facilitates the operation of mine ventilation systems. The implementation of degasification and gas drainage systems at the stage of deposit preparation ensures control of the gas factor and improves the industrial safety of mines. In addition, the utilization of coal mine methane as an energy and chemical resource increases the efficiency of integrated resource development. This, in turn, contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and generates additional economic benefits for coal mining enterprises.
