This article focuses on analyzing the condition of surface waters in Kazakhstan, which presents data on water quality in various reservoirs of the country. The main classes of water quality and pollutants such as heavy metals and biogenic compounds are considered. The causes of pollution, including anthropogenic and natural factors, are indicated, and recommendations for improving the state of water resources are proposed. These studies emphasize the need for enhanced monitoring and control of water pollution in Kazakhstan. One of the significant factors affecting the state of water bodies is the insufficient attention given to the effective management of water resources. The article also highlights the role of climate change in the deterioration of water resources, which requires additional efforts for adaptation and protection of aquatic ecosystems. Special attention is given to improving the monitoring system and raising public awareness of the importance of protecting water resources for the sustainable development of the country.
