The petroleum ether extract and dichloromethane extract of Artemisia scopiforme from Almaty, detailed chemical constituents of this herb has not been investigated yet, were systematically explored by GC-MS analysis. As a results showed that totally 88 compounds from Petroleum ether extract were identified, the major contents are 1,3-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-ethylhexyl) ester (1.03%), 3,5-di-tert-Butyl-4-hydroxyanisole (1.8%), 3-allyl-6-methoxyphenol (3.42%), of which scoparone (19.63%) and methyl eugenol (38.55%) are the most prominent and abundant. And dichloromethane extract contained 129 compounds, the main constituents are 9h-thioxanthen-9-one, 2-(1-methylethyl) (1.36%), eugenol (1.48%), n-hexadecanoic acid (1.29%), p-dimethylaminobenzylidene (4.09%), 3,6-acridinediamine, 2,7-dimethyl- (4.72%). Additionally, the antimicrobial activities of ethanol extract of Artemisia scopiforme and Rotocan plant extract were screened comparatively. As a results, the tested sample of Artemisia scopiforme has bactericidal activity and inhibits the growth of ATCC strains of Escherichia coli (8739) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (9027), both gram-negative bacterial at dilution 1:1. It is active against Gram-positive strains of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Enterococcus hirae ATCC 10541 in dilution 1:2, and against Candida albicans ATCC 10231 and Candida utilis it inhibits growth in dilution 1:3. Rotokan plant extract exhibits antimicrobial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231 in dilutions 1:1 and 1:4, respectively. It has no antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli strains ATCC 8739, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Enterococcus hirae ATCC 10541, and Candida utilis.
