Introduction . Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic necessitate studying its impact on morbidity and age group distribution to develop preventive and counter-epidemic measures. Aim . To study the structure of morbidity, clinical and laboratory parameters, and treatment selection in children with respiratory pathology in the preand post-COVID-19 pandemic period in the Kyrgyz Republic (KR). Materials and methods . This study covered the period from 2018 to 2023. Data from 945 inpatient medical records were analyzed. The structure of childhood morbidity in the KR was analyzed for the period from 2020 to 2022. Statistical and analytical research methods were used in the study, and the SPSS 23.0 program was used to calculate the indicators. Results . In 2022, after the pandemic, an increase in the incidence of children across all nosologies was recorded in the KR, the highest rate was in Bishkek – 114,428 cases per 100,000 population, which is 2.7 times more than in 2020 (41,842 cases). Children under 1 year of age were ill 2–3 times more often than in the age group 1 to 15 years. In 2024, the incidence of children under 1 year was 88,962.4 cases per 100,000 population, which was 4.7% lower compared with 2022 (93,410.8 cases) and 2.2% higher compared with 2023 (87,033.6 cases). Conclusion . The conducted analysis substantiates the need for further improvement of diagnostic and treatment practices, as well as optimization of healthcare delivery within the healthcare system of the KR. The experience of the pediatric service of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health in managing children with infectious diseases, including the novel coronavirus infection, contributed to the establishment of a multidisciplinary team of specialists providing consultative, methodological, and practical assistance to healthcare professionals in regional hospitals of the KR.
