The aim of this study was to summarise and analyse contemporary diagnostic and preventive measures to improve the effectiveness of epizootiological monitoring of bacterial infection. The review is based on an analysis of publications on methods of clinical examination, bacteriological isolation, serological diagnosis, polymerase chain reaction, molecular typing, and antibiotic susceptibility testing. The analysis showed that integrating molecular diagnostics, serological surveillance, epizootiological assessment, and farm-level risk assessments is necessary for effective pasteurellosis control. The analysis showed that variations in livestock management practices, environmental factors, and veterinary surveillance systems are associated with regional differences in occurrence and transmission of disease. The study found that while territorial analysis enables the evaluation of infection distribution and the identification of regions in need of increased surveillance, genetic identification techniques offer useful information on pathogen features. The results reveal that production and organisational elements that affect the development of disease should be taken into account in conjunction with diagnostic procedures. To improve preventive measures against pasteurellosis, an integrated surveillance strategy that combines laboratory confirmation, genetic characterisation, environmental monitoring, and veterinary control measures was developed. The findings offer a foundation for improving management of bacterial illnesses in farm animals and tailoring diagnostic and preventive programs to local epizootiological conditions. The practical value of the study lies in the possibility of applying the obtained findings by veterinary services, farms, and laboratories to improve the diagnosis, epizootiological monitoring, and prevention of pasteurellosis, taking into account regional characteristics.
