The purpose of this review is to analyze and systematize current data on the relationship between broncho-obstructive syndrome and the development of arrhythmias, as well as to evaluate the main pathophysiological mechanisms of this process. Broncho-obstructive syndrome encompasses a number of pathological conditions characterized by airflow limitation due to inflammatory and functional changes in the airways. The most common causes of broncho-obstructive syndrome are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma. An analysis of current studies has shown that broncho-obstructive syndrome is associated with an increased frequency of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular, and ventricular arrhythmias. In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, arrhythmias are detected in 5-30% of patients, reaching 40-60% during exacerbations. In bronchial asthma, the risk of atrial fibrillation is increased by 15%, and arrhythmias are recorded in approximately 16% of hospitalizations. The incidence increases with age, disease severity, and the presence of comorbidities. Arrhythmias in this group of patients are associated with a worse prognosis, increased hospitalization rates, and mortality. Studying the relationship between airflow obstruction and arrhythmias is of great clinical importance. Keywords: bronchoobstructive syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, inflammation.
