The article deals with the problem of experimental study of nomophobia - dependence on a mobile phone among students. The modern development of technology, the inclusion of gadgets in all spheres of human activity, the expansion of the number of telephone users and the increase in the amount of time spent in the smartphone by modern youth determine the relevance of this study. The novelty of the study lies in the first attempt to develop and test a questionnaire to identify the degree of nomophobia among Kazakh students and compare its results with the Iowa State University questionnaire to identify mobile phone addiction. After a theoretical review of studies on the study of nomophobia, a number of hypotheses have been put forward about the high severity of nomophobia and Internet addiction among students, the relationship of personal characteristics of anxiety with various levels of nomophobia. The procedure for studying nomophobia in 100 subjects using four psychodiagnostic techniques is described. With the help of experimental data, the characteristic features of the manifestation of dependence on a mobile phone in student youth have been identified and described. A mathematical analysis of the data obtained is presented, the conclusions of the study are formulated, and key issues for further experimental study of nomophobia are identified
