This study aimed to develop a polymer-modified cementitious grout based on beneficiation tailings for injection strengthening of fractured rock masses in open-pit slopes. The proposed composition was designed to improve the stability of structurally weakened rock masses while simultaneously utilizing mining waste as a mineral filler.Portland cement CEM I 42.5 (M400), tailings from the Karatau Mining and Processing Plant, redispersible polymer powder Movilit AM 2572, and water were used to prepare the grout. The mineralogical composition of the tailings was characterized by X-ray diffraction, and the physical and mechanical properties of the grout were evaluated by slump, compressive strength, and flexural strength tests after 28 days of curing. The optimum grout composition containing 30-35 wt.% cement, 45-50 wt.% tailings, and 3-4 wt.% polymer exhibited a slump of 143-150 mm, compressive strength of 32.5-37.2MPa, and flexural strength of 4.7-5.8MPa.The polymer-modified grout demonstrated good injectability, improved adhesion, and sufficient mechanical performance for reinforcing fractured rock masses. The proposed composition provides a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solution for stabilizing open-pit slopes through the beneficial utilization of mining tailings.
