A BSTRACT Worldwide adoption of digital devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers, has significantly transformed daily life. While these technologies enhance communication, education, and productivity, their excessive use has raised growing concerns regarding ocular health. Prolonged screen exposure is associated with digital eye strain, dry eye disease, and visual fatigue, which are increasingly prevalent across all age groups, including children and adolescents. The underlying mechanisms involve reduced blink rate, tear film instability, accommodative stress, and exposure to short-wavelength (blue) light, which may also disrupt circadian rhythms and sleep quality. Epidemiological data indicate that more than half of regular screen users experience ocular complaints, highlighting the growing public health significance of this issue. Preventive strategies include ergonomic adjustments, adherence to the 20-20-20 rule, regular ophthalmological examinations, use of artificial tears, and blue light reduction techniques. In addition, public health education plays a key role in promoting sustainable eye hygiene practices. This mini-review summarizes current evidence on the impact of digital device use on ocular health and outlines practical, evidence-based strategies for prevention.
