This article examines the theoretical foundations of state regulation of labor relations, which constitute an important element of any state’s socioeconomic policy. The paper explores the essence of state regulation in the labor sphere and analyzes its main objectives, principles, and functions within the context of a modern market economy. The study pays particular attention to the role of the state in ensuring a fair balance between the interests of workers and employers. The state creates conditions under which citizens’ labor rights are reliably protected, regulates employment processes, and takes measures to prevent unemployment. Furthermore, an important task of the state is to maintain social stability in society, ensure decent working conditions for employees, and establish an effective system of social and labor relations. This study examined and analyzed the main academic approaches to understanding the nature of state regulation of labor relations. Particular attention was paid to the legal, economic, and organizational mechanisms through which the state influences the labor sector. It was established that state regulation plays an important role in the development of the modern labor market, contributes to the creation of safe and decent working conditions, and helps prevent social conflicts among participants in labor relations. The study also examines the specific features of implementing state labor policy in the current context. It addresses issues related to the digitalization of the economy, the rapid spread of non-standard forms of employment—such as remote work and platform-based employment—as well as the intensification of globalization processes, which have a significant impact on the labor market and the nature of labor relations. The results show that effective government regulation of the labor sector contributes to improving the level of social protection for workers, creates favorable conditions for the development of social partnership between the government, employers, and workers, and strengthens the sustainability and stability of labor relations. This study leads to the conclusion that, under current socioeconomic conditions, there is a need to further improve government regulatory mechanisms in the labor sector. This will make it possible to respond more effectively to new challenges in the labor market, ensure the protection of workers’ rights, maintain the economy’s competitiveness, and create conditions for the sustainable social development of society.
